PF Awareness Month & the “Breathing Life” campaign

Each September, we lead the Pulmonary Fibrosis Awareness Month campaign to shed light on this serious yet often overlooked disease that affects 400,000 people and claims 100,000 lives annually in Europe alone.

Now in its fourth year, our 2024 campaign continues under the slogan “Breathing Life,” with a special focus on equitable access to oxygen, including supplementary oxygen. Our goal is to spark crucial discussions on ensuring that all individuals with pulmonary fibrosis who need oxygen receive it.

We aim to inspire action from all relevant stakeholders—including the public, patient community, policymakers, healthcare providers, researchers, and other key voices—to address the critical issues surrounding PF treatment and care. Throughout the campaign, we will explore the wide-ranging impacts of PF, from the physical and psychological strain to the daily challenges patients face, including the stigma some encounter when using oxygen devices in public.
